Emirates News Agency – Fujairah Environment highlights the role of youth in protecting the environment during the International Youth Conference

Fujairah, 4th October / WAM / The Fujairah Environment Authority participated in the Sixth International Youth Conference, which was organized by the United Nations in cooperation with the Green Growth Organization in New York State in the United States of America.

The authority participated – by default – with a working paper aimed at highlighting the main role it plays in confronting climate change, in addition to highlighting the role of youth in the field of environmental protection and development.

During her participation in a session entitled “Climate Change Solutions in the Civilized Environment,” His Excellency Asila Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of the Fujairah Environment Authority, presented an introduction to the Emirate of Fujairah, its environment, its picturesque nature and its strategic location on the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean, which enhances its economic position locally and globally.

During her speech, she spoke regarding the role of the Fujairah Environment Authority in supporting climate change issues and addressing the influencing factors by taking proactive measures in various fields, including the management of medical, industrial and hazardous waste, sustainable development, studies of environmental impact projects, air quality, sea water quality, and many other fields.

Her Excellency said that the role of the authority comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, to pay attention to the environmental field, and to follow-up and continuous support from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Environment Authority.

The conference reviewed the participation of many international institutions to present their most important experiences, exchange experiences and benefit, learn regarding the best practices globally to benefit from them, and discuss the mechanism of their implementation.
