ABU DHABI, 23rd November, 2020 (WAM) — The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and Modon Real Estate Company today signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at cooperation in the areas of implementing environmental initiatives aimed at protecting the air from pollution, protecting wildlife and marine life, natural resources, and development programs that enhance them, which will reflect positively on ensuring a safe and healthy environment. And strengthening Abu Dhabi’s efforts to achieve the goals of the 2050 climate neutrality strategy.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, and Bill O’Regan, CEO of Modon Real Estate Company, on Hudayriat Island in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
This memorandum stems from the common desire of the two parties for constructive cooperation in a way that aims towards achieving the goals, objectives, visions, policies, plans and strategic programs of each of them, especially with regard to cooperation in the field of achieving sustainable development and climate neutrality, exchanging information and experiences, and proposing appropriate solutions to various environmental problems through the implementation of pioneering environmental initiatives. And innovative within the company’s projects and study their success.
Her Excellency Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, said: By signing the memorandum of understanding with Modon Real Estate Company, we seek to contribute to the development and strengthening of partnership relations and to build bridges of communication and cooperation between the government sector, including agencies and institutions related to the protection of the environment and natural resources in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the private sector. in order to enhance its developmental and societal role.
Her Excellency Al Dhaheri indicated, “The signing of this memorandum came with the aim of strengthening the efforts made, which are in line with the rapid growth in many development activities in the emirate, which confirms that the two parties are confident in their ability to achieve their common goals through cooperation to achieve the ambitious strategic plans of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to ensure the continuity of our natural resources.” In the long term, the implementation of projects and research with environmental benefits in order to improve the quality of the environment and combat climate change.
It is noteworthy that one of the objectives of the memorandum is to strengthen the principle of environmental partnership, through which the authority seeks to share the responsibility for environmental protection and development with other sectors and entities in the emirate. For his part, Bill O’Regan, CEO of Modon Real Estate Company, said that the signing of this agreement comes as part of Modon’s interest in preserving the vital environmental diversity, the exceptional environmental infrastructure, and the wildlife that characterizes the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, stressing that cooperation with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi is a cornerstone in the implementation of environmental policies and procedures. cities in the implementation of all its projects, especially in the Al Dhafra region, which hosts many environmental, recreational and tourism projects.
Oregan stressed that MODON is working to raise environmental awareness among visitors to its environmental tourism projects by providing all the necessary information and important instructions that help them understand and appreciate the environment around them, in addition to providing an educational space to communicate with the surrounding environment, while taking into account the implementation of this vision. According to this memorandum, the two parties will participate in the preparation and implementation of programs that will improve the quality of the environment in the emirate, in addition to the educational and cultural activities necessary to spread awareness regarding the importance of preserving the environment and wildlife, and to develop media plans to introduce projects and present their achievements and benefits.
