ABU DHABI, 21 August / WAM / The Ministry of Education organized a summer training program on the Model United Nations with the aim of raising the capabilities of 100 public and private school students from different emirates in the field of leadership, diplomacy and achieving global competence, in addition to the participation of 20 teachers from the educational field.
The program included an open meeting organized by the Ministry of Education coinciding with the International Youth Day and in the presence of representatives of the care sector, capacity building and management of advanced future skills. The meeting was an opportunity to introduce the topic of generational solidarity and the relationship of the Model United Nations to the International Youth Day, and to celebrate the work done by the Ministry to empower students.
Within the framework of the program, the Ministry organized five training workshops during the period from 16 to 20 August, with two training workshops on simulating the Model United Nations, targeting 50 students with first experience in the diplomacy track, in addition to two advanced training workshops for 50 students who are leaders in the Model United Nations. In addition to an advanced training workshop for male and female teachers supervising the Model United Nations Program and Clubs.
The program included students from grades 9 to 12, who participated in the previous Virtual National Conference for the Model United Nations, beneficiaries of the “Diplomacy Track” readiness program, as well as teachers interested in the Model United Nations program.
The students’ training included learning diplomatic skills, leadership skills, diplomacy, the art of negotiation and presentation of proposals, in addition to teacher programs. The students experienced an educational simulation of the Model United Nations and its various committees, to learn the art of diplomacy, international relations and current global issues.
The training program included developing the students’ global competence, building their understanding of international peace and security, and the challenges of climate change, and raising their awareness of the international event hosted by the country next year, “the twenty-eighth conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change” COP 28, and the sustainable development goals. One of the most prominent global leadership activities for students.
The Ministry’s interest in such training programs comes within the framework of supporting the state’s priorities and keenness to build strategic partnerships with effective international organizations for the sustainability and quality of education, adopting international best practices to build specialized and future skills, laying the foundations for innovation and knowledge, spreading the spirit of leadership, leadership and excellence among students, and preparing Generations qualified to guide progress and development efficiently and effectively during the next fifty years.
