ABU DHABI, 12th January / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, visited the pavilion of the Republic of Turkey at Expo 2020 Dubai, which is located in the sustainability area and bears the slogan “We rise to the future for a sustainable world”, where he was received by Mustafa Alkir Kılıç. His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri stressed the importance of Expo 2020 Dubai in enhancing the UAE’s position as a global destination for attracting investments, talent, business growth and a knowledge economy. It also provides a dynamic platform for dialogue in the areas of digital economy, artificial intelligence, modern financial technologies, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, modern agriculture, smart cities and sustainable development solutions to address environmental and climate change issues, support the green economy and create a sustainable future for future generations.
During the visit, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq was briefed on the pavilion’s exhibits, which represent a mirror of Turkey’s ancient history, and its capital, Istanbul, which has a rich past and a rich industrial heritage, dating back to the city’s history as the capital of 3 major empires: Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman.
The Turkish pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai combines the civilized, cultural, technological, and other aspects, in addition to providing many cultural and folkloric events and performances.
The pavilion includes a variety of products and services in several fields, such as information technology, education, jewelry, woodwork, tourism, and health.
The Turkish pavilion provides visitors with a magical journey that includes many products that express the nature, unique history and cultural richness of Turkey. It also gives its visitors an opportunity to taste delicious traditional foods, and practice some Turkish handicraft workshops.
It is noteworthy that Turkey ranks 11th among the largest trading partners of the UAE, while the UAE is Turkey’s twelfth trading partner globally. Gold, jewelry and jewelry are the most important commodities of trade exchange between the two countries over the past ten years.. Non-oil trade between the two countries in 2020 recorded regarding 33 billion dirhams, a growth of 21% compared to 2019, despite the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on global trade During this period, and in the first half of 2021, it amounted to more than 26.4 billion dirhams, with a 100% growth jump compared to the same period last year.
In terms of investment, the total UAE investment flows to Turkey amounted to regarding 18.4 billion dirhams at the end of 2020, as Emirati companies invest in many vital sectors in Turkish markets, including oil and gas, financial services, manufacturing, tourism, construction and renewable energy.
In contrast, the balance of Turkish investments in the UAE until the beginning of 2020 amounted to more than 1.3 billion dirhams. The investments of Turkish companies in the country focus on the construction, real estate, financial sector, insurance, industry and information technology sectors.
