DUBAI, 26th March / WAM / The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority recorded a decrease in electricity consumption in the Emirate of Dubai of 329 megawatts during “Earth Hour 2022”, which is equivalent to reducing the emission of 132 tons of carbon dioxide, and this decrease in electricity consumption is 13% more than the decrease in The authority recorded it during Earth Hour 2021, which amounted to 291 megawatts. This year’s decline is the largest since Earth Hour was first celebrated in Dubai in 2008.

Dubai residents joined millions around the world in expressing their solidarity with efforts to reduce climate change by turning off lights and unnecessary electrical appliances during the “Earth Hour”, which the world celebrated today under the slogan “Let’s Draw Our Future.” Dubai’s most prominent landmarks and government and private buildings also participated Earth Hour by turning off the lights for an hour.
