Emirates News Agency – Dubai Police promotes Emirati women’s leadership in 73 specialties

DUBAI, 24th of August / WAM / The Emirati women in the Dubai Police have made remarkable and exceptional qualitative leaps during the last decade.

His Excellency Major General Ahmed Mohamed Rafie, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Administration Affairs, confirmed to the Dubai Police Security Magazine that the Dubai Police General Command keeps pace with the rational leadership’s directions in making women partners with men in various aspects of life, supporting them and ensuring their rights through the enactment of laws and legislations that contribute to strengthening their presence and empowering them.

He praised the National Strategy for Empowerment and Entrepreneurship of Women in the State, which provides a general, reference and guiding framework for all institutions in developing plans and programs of action in order to provide a decent life for women.

Major General Ahmed Rafie said that Dubai Police is keen to support and empower the female component in the various police sectors and to develop frameworks and training and rehabilitation programs to provide Dubai Police with distinguished women competencies in all disciplines.

He noted the Dubai Police’s interest in the women’s component by allocating a women’s council to deal with women’s affairs and activating their participation in security and police work to contribute to strengthening the country’s march on the global competitiveness map.

For his part, Brigadier General Dr. Saleh Abdullah Murad, Director of the General Department of Human Resources, stressed that Dubai Police believes in the ability of women to participate in supporting government trends with creative and effective solutions, noting that Dubai Police possesses exceptional female cadres that have influenced the police work system.

Brigadier-General Saleh explained that the General Administration of Human Resources is keen to achieve a balance between the sexes in specialization and work, and to ensure that women receive all the advantages and rights guaranteed by law.

He added, “We achieved a 69% increase in sending women to study, whether inside or outside the country, during the last ten years, compared to the ten years before, including 73 different specializations in criminal and biological sciences, communication, law, politics, artificial intelligence systems and other qualitative and unique disciplines. Today. There are 23 female students on scholarships to study between a doctorate, master’s and bachelor’s degree.

In turn, Major Expert Anoud Al Saadi, head of the Dubai Police Women’s Council, said that the council was re-formed in 2017 to focus its tasks on supporting and empowering women in Dubai Police to keep pace with the institution’s strategic directions in making the internal community happy.

She added, “The council’s vision is to enhance the active participation of women to make society happy, and works to address the challenges and expected future changes in various fields, contribute to achieving strategic directions, and cooperate with government agencies to provide community initiatives that enhance the role of women.”

Major Al-Saadi noted the most prominent achievements of the Council, including the rehabilitation of 190 female members of the Dubai Police through specialized courses in cooperation with the General Administration of Training, with 45 in the Empowerment of Women Leaders Course, 68 in the Effective Women Leadership Course, and 77 in the Advanced Communication Skills Course for Working Women.

Major General Dr. Ghaith Ghanem Al-Suwaidi, Director of the Dubai Police Academy, said that the academy had previously celebrated, at the beginning of this year, the graduation of the first and second batch of female candidates during the extraordinary ceremony, “the fiftieth graduation ceremony” at the global event Expo 2020 Dubai, and they are 61 female candidates in the security and legal fields and at various scientific levels. With the best police sciences and knowledge, to join their brothers in the fields of glory and honor and contribute to serving the country and enhancing its security and stability, while the number of female candidates today is 88 female candidates in the Bachelor of Security and Criminal Sciences.

Maj. Gen. Al-Suwaidi confirmed that the academy provides a flexible and smooth study environment for both sexes, while at the same time granting the female component privacy in training, halls and all other advantages, just like the students.
