Emirates News Agency – “Dubai Electricity Women” organizes more than 50 community and professional events during 2022

DUBAI, 29 December / WAM / The Women’s Committee in the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority organized more than 50 community, professional and specialized activities during the year 2022, and received 4 delegations within the benchmarking visits, and the percentage of female employees’ satisfaction with the committee’s performance reached 94.5%, in addition to obtaining Over the past three years, the Authority has provided 50,000 training opportunities and 63 scholarships.

The number of female employees in Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is 1937 in all departments, and this number includes 778 female employees in the engineering and technical sectors, while 523 female employees occupy leadership positions, and Emirati female employees constitute 83% of the total female workforce in the authority.

The Authority’s Research and Development Center includes 16 female cadres, of whom 15 are Emiratis out of a total of 46 employees. Female employees constitute about 35% of the work team at the Research and Development Center, and the authority received 28 recent trainee graduates during the year 2022, of whom 26 are in the fields of engineering and other specialized fields.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said that the authority is working to support the process of empowering women, as it provides equal opportunities for men and women and focuses on empowering women, starting from leadership positions to technical jobs, which made them a role model for institutions and government agencies. Especially inside and outside the country.

For her part, Fatima Muhammad Al Joker, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, indicated that the Authority’s management provides all the elements to support the work of the Women’s Committee, to ensure the continued success of the Authority’s female employees in achieving a balance between their professional, social and family lives, and to play a pivotal role in the important achievements that the Authority achieves locally and internationally. The committee is committed to providing all capabilities that help female employees, regardless of their positions and responsibilities, to succeed and develop.

For her part, Aisha Al-Assam, Vice-Chairman of the Women’s Committee at the Authority, explained that the Women’s Committee is keen to conclude effective partnerships with the relevant authorities and institutions, to provide female employees with the necessary expertise and knowledge.

Under the slogan “Inspiring Reality… A Sustainable Future”, the Authority held the “Eighth Emirati Women’s Forum” in the Authority’s Academy building to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day 2022. On International Women’s Day 2022, the Authority celebrated its female Emirati female engineers, as the Women’s Committee organized a celebration at the Dubai Ladies Club, to honor 10 of the Authority’s distinguished female engineers.

It is noteworthy that the committee held a series of dialogue sessions to highlight the outstanding achievements of Emirati female engineers in the Authority, and participated in the Global Women’s Forum 2022 held in the French capital, Paris. The Women’s Committee also hosted the Pink Caravan; Coinciding with the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which falls in October of each year, in addition to organizing an educational trip to the women’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and crowning the women’s sports team with first place in the Ramadan football tournament for women organized by the Dubai Sports Council in cooperation with Jam Academy sports.
