DUBAI, 26th August / WAM / The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority organized a virtual forum with the participation of 90 Turkish companies specialized in the energy and water sectors.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, delivered a speech during the forum – which was attended by 117 participants – in which he shed light on the most important projects and initiatives of the Authority, especially in the field of renewable and clean energy. He also addressed the development of trade relations between the UAE and the Republic of Turkey.
His Excellency invited Turkish companies to participate in the 24th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition “WETEX” and Dubai Solar Energy, which will be organized by the authority from 27 to 29 September 2022 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
In his speech during the forum, he pointed out that the UAE and the Republic of Turkey enjoy solid relations that have developed under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him.” and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”, pointing out that the two countries enjoy strong economic relations, as the UAE is Turkey’s first trading partner in the Arab region and ranks second in direct investments with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The two countries also ratified the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which is expected to double the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries, which currently stands at 50.32 billion dirhams (13.7 billion US dollars).
His Excellency Al Tayer said, “In line with the vision of our wise leadership, we have a clear strategy and specific goals to increase the percentage of clean and renewable energy in Dubai’s energy mix. Within this direction of our rational government, we have launched pioneering initiatives and projects to diversify sources of clean energy production in Dubai, including the various available sources and technologies of clean and renewable energy, including: This includes photovoltaic panels, concentrated solar energy, and the production of green hydrogen using solar energy, to be a new source of clean energy in the future, in addition to stored water technology.”
He added, “We will continue to work in full swing to achieve these ambitious goals. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is part of DEWA’s efforts to support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Carbon Neutrality Initiative to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by The complex, which is being implemented under the future product system, is also the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world according to the independent product system. The authority has a strong infrastructure to meet the increasing demand, support the growth of the green economy, and enhance the competitiveness of the UAE in the field of clean energy and efficient technologies,” he said. There is significant capital expenditure per megawatt of installed energy, and the authority has attracted investments of regarding 40 billion dirhams (10.9 billion US dollars) using this model, noting that the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has achieved many world records at the lowest cost of solar energy and desalinated water, which made Dubai A global benchmark for solar energy and desalinated water prices.
His Excellency Al Tayer added, “In Dubai, we always seek to learn regarding the latest global developments in various fields of technology to expand our horizons and work as a team with international partners in the field of energy while helping them develop their innovative technologies to improve our services.
