DUBAI, 19th December, 2020 (WAM) — Dubai Chambers International recently organized the first activities of its “Business Opportunities in Focus” initiative, which focused on the Central Asian markets in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, attracting participants from various sectors including food, trade, logistics, tourism, sustainability, pharmaceuticals, engineering and construction.
Through a series of presentations and interactive panel discussions with trade officials from the three countries, the event discussed aspects of cooperation in the fields of trade and investment between Dubai, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, as the first activities of the initiative focused on the available and rewarding investment and trade prospects between Dubai and those countries.
Omar Khan, Executive Director of Foreign Offices at Dubai International Chamber, stressed the UAE’s keenness to build bridges of communication across borders in many areas, including business meetings, initiatives and events, pointing out that the event opens horizons for business and trade opportunities in new areas of importance; and how to access the market, connections, skills and tools that support their expansion plans in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
Khan added that the initiative encourages members to join the upcoming trade missions that will visit the three countries during the first quarter of 2023.
These missions will witness meetings with key stakeholders to establish businesses in the country concerned, as well as field visits to industrial and economic zones.
The value of Dubai’s non-oil trade with these three countries in 2021 reached $2.4 billion. Central Asia is an important market for the emirate, and the event’s discussions identified aspects of trade and investment cooperation between the two parties in the sectors of food, tourism, finance, metal industries, logistics and construction.
By supporting member companies of the Dubai Chambers to achieve global expansion, the “Business Opportunities in Focus” initiative allowed members of the chambers to engage in specific groups to discuss market entry opportunities and strategies in those specific countries. The members also touched on issues related to doing business in these Central Asian countries, such as the cost of living, easy access to financial and banking facilities, as well as incentives for foreign companies.
By providing a platform for Dubai companies and Chambers member companies to connect with leaders of the public and private sectors in strategic markets, the initiative’s activities focus on meeting a number of business needs of Dubai Chambers members in order to help them grow and achieve their expansion goals.
Following the “Business Opportunities Under Focus” initiative, the “New Horizons for External Expansion” initiative will be launched in the first quarter of 2023, which includes the organization of dedicated trade missions to selected countries.
