DUBAI, 12th December, 2020 (WAM) — Dnata has won the “Ground Handling Services Provider of the Year” award for the 12th time and for the third year in a row, as part of the 2022 Aviation Business Week Middle East Awards.
Receiving the award, Jaafar Daoud, Senior Vice President of Airport Operations in the country for dnata, said: “Dnata winning this honor for the 12th time is an appreciation for the outstanding efforts of our team to continuously provide world-class services to our airline partners and their customers. Over the past year, dnata has continued to expand its operations to support its airline customers’ increasing flights through more than 120 airports around the world.
This included the opening of modern freight centers in London, the United Kingdom and Erbil, Iraq, and the expansion of its existing facility in Dulles, USA. In addition, dnata expanded its freight operations in Cologne, Germany through a strategic acquisition and announced a $200 million investment in dnata Cargo City Amsterdam, a fully automated freight hub in the Netherlands.
dnata has also invested in advanced technologies and digitization to enhance efficiency across its operations. Key achievements included the launch of the OneCargo digital freight management system, the development of a next-generation e-commerce platform and the introduction of autonomous drones in its warehouses.
dnata continues its efforts to optimize resources and reduce environmental footprint across its global network. It has recently installed renewable energy technology such as solar panels, heat preservation units and electric vehicle charging at its operating facilities in the UK and Singapore. Carbon reduction initiatives will also be included in the construction and operation of the two new shipping centers in Iraq and the Netherlands.
dnata provides ground handling, freight, travel, catering and retail services in 37 countries across six continents. During the first six months of the current fiscal year 2022/2023, dnata’s customer-oriented teams handled more than 347,000 aircraft, 1.3 million tons of cargo, carried 50.5 million meals, and recorded total TTV deals for travel services worth more than $1.3 billion.
