Sharjah, October 24 / WAM / The Sharjah International Film Festival presented a wide range of films in several languages ​​and interactive and training workshops for children and youth.

The tenth edition of the festival will be held at VOX Cinemas in City Center Al Zahia and will continue until October 28 amidst a remarkable turnout.

In the “An Artist’s Journey” session, Egyptian artist Laila Alawi reviewed her artistic career, which she began in the corridors of Egyptian Radio, from which she moved to Middle East Radio and then Cairo Radio, reviewing a number of cinematic films in which she participated, stressing that embodying the character is one of the most important stages of cinematic and television acting due to what it requires. From embodiment and experience in performing and presenting various roles.

Egyptian screenwriter Medhat El-Adl said during the “Finding Your Story” session that passion represents the basis of success in writing a screenplay and that effort and patience constitute the largest share in the success of the work. He believed that the ability to answer the question “What would happen if…” which represents the origin and beginning of the story It is the basis on which the screenwriting process is built, in addition to paying attention to narrating the details, the type of characters, their shape, their movement, and their future as well, as the method of describing the event represents a reflection of the movement of the characters in the scenario, while the dialogue represents a translation of the voice of these characters.

The festival activities also included holding a dialogue session entitled “From Film Festival Screenings to Film Platforms: How to Access the Platforms,” in which Talal Al Asmani from Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Tariq Ghannam from Shooting Stars Film Distribution Company highlighted the most prominent challenges witnessed by the film industry. In the Middle East in terms of distribution and financing, especially following the period of the spread of the “Covid-19” pandemic, which affected the strength of the industry in the region. They stressed that festivals are an important platform for displaying new films speaking languages ​​​​of the world, but despite this, it remains difficult for the distributor and producer due to the limited films being screened. They also touched on the broadcast platforms that are looking to obtain the rights to show the film, which forces filmmakers to determine their options to suit the nature of the conditions imposed by these platforms.

As part of the green carpet activities in which the Syrian artist Samer Al-Masry participated, the festival screened the film “Exodus” by director Soudad Kaadan and starring the Egyptian artist and Syrian artist Kinda Alloush.
