Dubai, 31 December / WAM / DEWA organized 12 sports tournaments during the year 2022, in which 2,437 male and female employees from various sectors of the authority participated. It sponsored and hosted 3 sports tournaments in Dubai, in addition to its participation in a number of local sports events and tournaments.

Dr. Youssef Al-Akraf, Executive Vice President of the Business Support and Human Resources Sector at the Authority, said: “The sports activities organized by the Authority or participating in it contribute to enhancing teamwork among employees, developing the physical and mental capabilities of the participants, giving them self-confidence, and raising the percentage of concentration and productivity in the work environment.” “.
The Authority supports and participates in the “Government Games” that are held under the supervision and organization of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council..Last year, the Authority actively participated in the third session of the “Government Games”. every team.
DEWA strengthened its participation and sponsorship of the Dubai Fitness Challenge activities through Mai Dubai, wholly owned by the authority, as it included an integrated program designed specifically for this innovative challenge, with the aim of motivating Dubai residents and visitors to increase their physical activity, and to commit to allocating 30 minutes a day to fitness. At least 30 days of practicing a variety of different sports and fitness activities.
The authority participated in the tenth edition of the “Sheikha Hind Sports Games for Women”, the largest tournament of its kind organized by the Dubai Sports Council under the auspices of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” Her Highness Sheikha Hind. The Authority’s team participating in the tournament included 68 talented female employees trained at the highest level. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, which is being implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in Seih Al Dahl, Dubai, hosted the community cycling challenge organized by Peloton Events, with the participation of 11 teams from across the United Arab Emirates. The challenge was held under the auspices of the Dubai Sports Council, and extended over a distance of 66 km. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world.
The Authority’s Sports Committee organized the DEWA Bowling Championship 2022 at the Dubai International Bowling Center, with the participation of 120 employees from various sectors of the Authority.
The Authority organized its sports tournaments for the month of February at the Authority’s Academy, World Padel Academy, and G-Force Cricket Academy, with the participation of 337 male and female employees from all sectors of the Authority. The tournaments included chess, padel, and cricket.
The women’s sports team in the authority was crowned first in the Ramadan football tournament for women, which was organized by the Dubai Sports Council in cooperation with the Jam Sports Academy. The team, consisting of 15 players, topped the group following its success in keeping a clean goal in all matches.
