Emirates News Agency – “Creative Umm Al Quwain” begins the month of reading with the Language of Civilizations Forum

Umm Al Quwain On the first of March / WAM / The Umm Al Quwain Creative Center began its activities in the month of reading “The Emirates Read” by organizing the “Arabic language, the language of civilization” forum, which included a number of activities that enhance and increase the connection to reading, and contribute to building a reader community.

The activities of the forum included the organization of an exhibition of manuscripts in cooperation with the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, through which the center displayed 30 manuscripts from among the oldest and rarest original Arabic and Islamic manuscripts it owns.

A manuscript drawn in an expressive artistic manner was also displayed in which the most beautiful names of God and the attributes of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, were written. A copy of the Holy Qur’an dating back to the year 1312 AH was displayed. The exhibited manuscripts also included copies of illustrated manuscripts related to the field of astronomy, engineering, medicine, pharmacy and genealogy, as well as Literary manuscripts and manuscripts in poetry and syntax.

The Juma Al Majid Center was keen, through its participation in the exhibition, to display a group of ancient manuscripts dating back hundreds of years. The center restored them following exposure to a number of natural factors that affected the manuscript.

Abdullah Ali Bu Osaiba, Director of the Creative Center in Umm Al Quwain, said that this forum coincides with the launch of the month of reading to shed light on the historical and archaeological value in preserving our Arab heritage, which was written down in manuscripts and restored in order to preserve the material heritage from extinction and transfer knowledge to generations and future generations.

He praised the great efforts made by the Juma Al Majid Center in preserving, preserving and preserving heritage, and laying the foundations for culture.

For his part, Anwar Al Dhaheri, director of public relations at the Juma Al Majid Center and supervisor of the exhibition, said that the center pays great attention to collecting and preserving heritage, in addition to exchanging knowledge with various institutions in the country to spread the goals of the center and what it does in order to preserve heritage.

The activities of the forum included organizing a workshop on the art of writing a novel, presented by Dr. Nagia Al-Kharji, Assistant Professor of General Academic Requirements, Arab and Emirati Studies, Higher College of Technology, in which she presented the beginning and emergence of the novel, its development over time, and the trends and types of the novel. At the end of the forum, the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage was honored in recognition of their role, participation and support for cultural programmes.
