DUBAI, 9th August, 2019 (WAM) — The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has received a delegation from the German Development Cooperation Agency and the German NGO Succow for Environmental Conservation, as part of its keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences between the two countries to protect the environment and preserve marine natural reserves. and promoting ecotourism.

The Ministry, represented by the Department of Biodiversity, discussed with the German delegation future trends and visions regarding eco-tourism at marine sites, and how to cooperate and coordinate efforts in the areas of marine pollution control, environmental sustainability and other environmental issues that take a great deal of importance to both countries.

The visit included a tour for the delegation in the Marawah Marine Reserve – the largest marine reserve in the region and the first marine reserve accredited by UNESCO that includes a wide range of wildlife, and is home to nearly 60% of the country’s dugongs, and contains various types of bottlenose and humpback dolphins, in addition to To 4 species of sea turtles, 70 species of fish, coral reefs and mangroves.
