SHARJAH, 21st December, 2020 (WAM) — The wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Foundation for Women’s Sports, issued a decision to change the name of the “Sharjah Award for Sports Family” to “Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi Award for Sports Excellence” to become more comprehensive with her new vision towards a sports community. Integrated and sustainable in order to enhance the passion for sports development in the Emirate’s society and in appreciation of the athletes and the distinguished sports practices aimed at empowering a generation of leaders capable of leading sports institutions in the future in accordance with the best international practices.
The objectives of the award, which are organized by the Sharjah Sports Council and the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, are to honor athletes and pioneering sports practices, highlight them as an example and role model, spread a culture of achieving sports balance, academic and professional excellence, promote social responsibility for companies and institutions in all sectors, and encourage sports experiences. The level of awareness and the quality of healthy and sports life for all levels of the Emirate’s citizens and residents, and it is supervised by a board of trustees and sub-work committees.
Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi issued a decision to reconfigure the Board of Trustees of the Award, headed by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, with the membership of: Naglaa Abdullah Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Award, Khawla Jassim Al Serkal, Hanan Muhammad Al Mahmoud, Dr. Abdullah Abdul Rahman bin Sultan, Wafaa Abdullah bin Ali, and Muhammad Ali Al Hammadi. Members of the Council. The Board of Trustees shall supervise all the work of the Award, set technical regulations for participation criteria and categories, and submit a periodic report on it for evaluation and development.
His Excellency Issa Hilal extended his highest thanks and appreciation to Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi for the great confidence she placed in her in the presidency of the Board of Trustees.
