Tashkent, May 6/WAM/ The Executive Office of the Olympic Council of Asia approved, during its meeting Friday in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, the formation of the Committee of Asian Sports Federations headed by the South Korean Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia Shi Tae-won and the membership of each of, His Excellency Osama Al Shafar, Vice President of the International Cycling Union and President of the International Cycling Union The Asian Cycling Confederation, His Excellency Qais Abdullah Al Dhalei, President of the UAE AFC Rugby Federation, Dr. Malav Shroff, President of the Asian Sailing and Rowing Confederation, Chung Iosun, President of the Asian Shooting Confederation, and Windsor John, Secretary General of the Asian Football Confederation.
The new committee will hold its first meeting in the Korean capital, Seoul, during the second quarter of this year to discuss the readiness of the federations for the qualifiers for the Asian Games “Hangzhou”, which was decided to postpone the next year 2023 during the meeting of the Executive Office of the Olympic Council of Asia.
The committee will also study the challenges facing Asian sports and develop radical solutions to ensure the continuity of the successes of the Olympic Council of Asia and the sustainability of the Asian Olympic movement.
