ABU DHABI, 14th April, 2020 (WAM) — Al Ain and Sharjah teams qualified for the final of the President’s Cup, after defeating Al Wasl and Ajman in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The Al Ain team reserved its seat after defeating its guest Al Wasl with a goal without a response in the second leg of the semi-final match, which brought them together this evening, Friday, at Hazaa Bin Zayed Stadium, after the first leg had ended in a goalless draw without goals at Zabeel Stadium.
The only goal of the match was scored by Eric Jurgens in the 24th minute.
And the owner of the land maintained his progress despite the numerical shortage that he had suffered since the 29th minute of the first half, as a result of the expulsion of his goalkeeper Khaled Issa.
Before the end of the match, Jamal Balamri, Al Wasl defender, received a red card, Q 86, for objecting to a goal scored by Al Ain, before the video referee technology intervened and canceled the goal.
In the second match, the Sharjah team, the defending champion, succeeded in qualifying for the final match, with a 1-1 draw in the second leg of the semi-final, which brought them together at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium, after extra time in two halves.
The original time of the match ended with Ajman advancing 1-0, which means that the two teams tied 2-2, given Sharjah’s victory in the first leg 2-1.
George Djanini scored the equalizing goal for Sharjah in the second extra half in the 109th minute, and Abdullah Saleh, defender of Ajman, received a second warning and a red card in the 118th minute, so the match ended in a 1-1 draw and Sharjah qualified for the final to meet Al Ain.
