ABU DHABI, 25th August / WAM / Etihad Airways celebrated Captain Aisha Al Mansouri, who became the first Emirati captain for a commercial airline in the country, in the company’s commitment to the Emiratisation strategy and its efforts to expand the roles of women in various fields, and the community of pilots in particular.

The promotion ceremony was held at the Etihad Airways Cabin Crew Briefing Center, in the presence of Captain Aisha’s family, fellow Etihad pilots and senior management of the airline.

The 33-year-old captain joined the Etihad Airways Trainee Pilot Program in October 2007, and was one of two young Emiratis in her cohort.. In 2010, Aisha successfully graduated from the program and took her first commercial flight on an Airbus A320 to the Jordanian capital. , Amman.

Since then, Aisha has risen through the ranks, completing the required flying hours to obtain the rank of advanced co-pilot as the first Emirati pilot to pilot the Airbus A380 superjumbo.

Aisha Al Mansouri completed the Etihad training program to obtain the rank of captain and fulfilled the mandatory flight hours to be eligible for promotion.. She passed all the examinations and theoretical knowledge tests of the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE, and flight exams, thus officially becoming the first Emirati captain to hold an air transport pilot license in the country UAE.
