Sharjah, 12th April / WAM / The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry has achieved significant growth in the movement of memberships and transactions registered during the first quarter of this year, the highest since 2018, with the addition of 1996 new companies to the membership of the Chamber and the renewal of membership of 15,572 members, bringing the number of registered members during The first quarter to 17,568 members, an increase of 8% over the same period in 2021, which raises the total number of members and affiliates of the Chamber to 61,212 members, in a clear indication of the strength of the local economy of the Emirate of Sharjah, as it is a major focal point in the UAE to establish successful investment projects and establish economic relations regional and international.
The increase in the number of new memberships registered during the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year was 6 percent, while the increase in the number of renewed memberships was 8 percent over 2021.
The number of certificates of origin issued reached 18,454 certificates and 557 certificates for free zones, to enhance the Sharjah Chamber’s position as one of the most important chambers of commerce in the Middle East and North Africa.
His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed that the growth achieved in the number of memberships, certificates of origin and transactions during the first quarter of this year is evidence of the success of the new Chamber’s strategy and achieving its goals in an effective contribution to advancing sustainable growth in Sharjah, in parallel with its focus on achieving its mission. Which it aspires to in the next three years in supporting the business sectors (commercial, industrial, professional, agricultural and digital) by providing world-class services to enhance their competitive capabilities and achieve sustainable economic and social development through the commitment of the Sharjah Chamber to harness all its capabilities to stimulate and support the private sector to keep pace with global changes in the environment Business and innovation in its services and initiatives.
Al-Awadi pointed out that these figures reflect the investment climate that characterizes the Emirate of Sharjah and its attractiveness to businessmen and investors through its motivating components and benefits, in addition to the continuity of the Chamber’s efforts in cooperation with its partners from government agencies to create an encouraging and stimulating investment environment for the business community by providing services Distinguished services that serve the business sector and innovate ways and means to attract more investors to the emirate.
