Emirates News Agency – 15 dead in Kentucky floods

WASHINGTON, July 29, 2020 (WAM) — At least 15 people were killed in floods sweeping eastern Kentucky, following days of heavy rains, inundated homes, swept roads and flooded rivers and streams.

“We have lost at least 15 Kentucky residents, but this number will increase and perhaps more than double,” Kentucky Governor Nadi Bashir said today in a video clip on Twitter, referring to power outages for 23,000 homes and businesses.

The US National Weather Service said flood warnings remained in effect throughout the day for the eastern half of the state as well as northeastern Tennessee and western West Virginia, where more rain is expected to swell waterways that are already past flood stages.
