Emirates News Agency – 126 new activities under the “Tajer Abu Dhabi” license

ABU DHABI, 28th July, WAM/ The Abu Dhabi Business Center, affiliated with the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, announced the addition of 126 new economic activities within the “Tajer Abu Dhabi” license, which allows entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises to start practicing their businesses and expand their commercial activities without the need to provide Headquarters to operate for three years.

The new step reflects Abu Dhabi Economy’s keenness to empower entrepreneurs by providing means to facilitate the start and practice of business, which enhances the emirate’s competitiveness and supports its development path, in line with the directives and vision of the wise leadership.

With the addition of 126 activities, the total economic activities licensed by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development in the category of “Abu Dhabi Trader” rises to 1,200 activities, noting that the activities available within the “Abu Dhabi Trader” did not exceed 30 economic activities when the initiative was launched in 2017.

The economic activities available in the “Abu Dhabi Merchant” category represent 29.6% of the total activities licensed by the Department of Economic Development, which numbered 4,062 at the end of last year (2021).

Three years following the issuance of the Abu Dhabi Merchant license, license holders are required to provide a workplace that matches the conditions necessary for their field of business, and obtain technical approvals from the concerned authorities.

His Excellency Mohamed Munif Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Business Center, said that the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi places entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises at the forefront of its priorities, as they are among the main drivers of economic development, which is reflected in this step, which comes in the context of our efforts to provide more activities for the pioneers Businesses wishing to establish their business.

His Excellency added: “During the last period, we have witnessed a great demand from those wishing to start their business through the “Abu Dhabi Trader”, as the number of new licenses issued in this category during the past year reached 7,106 licenses, representing 27.9% of the total new economic licenses in the emirate during the past year. 2021. The number of licenses issued during the last year alone represents regarding 50% of the total “Tajer Abu Dhabi” licenses issued since the launch of the initiative in 2017 until the end of 2020, which reflects the positive response of entrepreneurs with the efforts made by the Abu Dhabi Economy to expand The range of activities available and the facilities they provide.
