Emirates records one of its busiest summers ever. Between June and August 2023, more than 14 million passengers traveled with Emirates. The airline announced this in a press release today.
Looking ahead to the coming months, Emirates booking trends show continued demand for international travel across its network. The airline’s hub, Dubai, has been a very popular holiday destination this summer. Two million passengers traveled to the desert metropolis to experience the numerous attractions. The top markets Emirates flew to Dubai from during this period included the UK, India, Germany, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt and Kuwait. Over 35 percent of Emirates travelers to Dubai were families. On average, travelers took two weeks to explore the unique city.

Emirates flights from Germany – 57 percent more passengers With a total of 63 weekly non-stop flights from Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf and Hamburg, Emirates connects passengers via the Dubai hub with the airline’s international route network. The load factor on Emirates flights from Germany in the summer months from June to August averaged around 80 percent. Emirates recorded 57 percent more passengers than in the same period last year. This result was supported by a 45 percent increase in capacity.
Further upward trend internationally
In total, Dubai welcomed more than 8.5 million international guests in the first half of 2023. The city recorded an increase of more than one million visitors for this period compared to the previous year.
Emirates expects a further increase in demand for Dubai trips in the coming winter season. Among other things, global conferences and world-class sporting events attract numerous interested parties to the desert city.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer, was enthusiastic regarding the success story: “Demand for travel across our network is strong and resilient, despite rising cost pressures in many markets. This shows the value people place on travel and how important international air connections are for society. As a pioneer in restoring our flight schedules, Emirates has worked closely with our industry partners. We are pleased with the positive response of all cabin classes from our passengers, especially the premium cabins, and we will continue to invest in our products and services and in operating an efficient global network to offer our passengers the best value for money .”
A lot has happened with the Emirates offer this summer to serve the strong demand. The airline added Montreal to its route network and expanded its service to 12 cities. There are daily connections once more with the flagship A380 to Birmingham, Nice, Taipei and Shanghai. The A380 now also travels to Bali, while the latest premium economy 4-class A380s have been introduced on the Singapore, Los Angeles and Houston routes. New interline and extended codeshare agreements were also announced with Kenya Airways, Air Canada and Philippine Airlines.
From June to August, Emirates operated nearly 50,000 flights to and from 140 cities, carrying over 14 million passengers. With 157 airline and rail partners, Emirates offers travelers convenient and extended access to over 800 cities in 100 countries.
