Looking ahead to the coming months, Emirates booking trends show continued demand for international travel across its network. The airline’s hub, Dubai, has been a very popular holiday destination this summer. Two million passengers traveled to the desert metropolis to experience the numerous attractions.
The main markets Emirates flew to Dubai from during this period included the UK, India, Germany, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt and Kuwait. Over 35% of Emirates travelers to Dubai were families. On average, travelers took two weeks to explore the unique city.
Further uptrend
In total, Dubai welcomed more than 8.5 million international guests in the first half of 2023. The city recorded an increase of more than one million visitors for this period compared to the previous year.
Emirates expects a further increase in demand for Dubai trips in the coming winter season. Among other things, global conferences and world-class sporting events attract numerous guests to the desert city.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Demand for travel across our network is strong and resilient, despite rising cost pressures in many markets. This shows the value people place on travel and how important international air connections are for society.”
So Emirates has also done a lot with the offer this summer to serve the strong demand. The airline added Montreal to its route network and expanded its service to 12 cities. There are daily connections once more with the flagship A380 to Birmingham, Nice, Taipei and Shanghai.
The A380 now also travels to Bali, while the latest 4-class A380s have been introduced with Premium Economy Class on routes to Singapore, Los Angeles and Houston. New interline and extended codeshare agreements were also announced with Kenya Airways, Air Canada and Philippine Airlines.
From June to August, Emirates operated nearly 50,000 flights to and from 140 cities, carrying over 14 million passengers. With 157 airline and rail partners, Emirates offers travelers convenient and extended access to over 800 cities in 100 countries.
