Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain Talk About Gratitude and New Career Journeys at Linkin Park

Members of the music group Linkin Park (Doc. Linkin Park)

SINCE they were announced to the public in early September this year as new members of Linkin Park, Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain have been in the spotlight for fans of the band. Armstrong previously had a career with the band Dead Sara and Brittain, who filled the drum position in Linkin Park, and previously also had a long career as a producer and songwriter.

Both of them said that joining a band that has a long legacy in the music industry was like a fast career advancement. Both of them also still feel like this is not reality.

“I look at it like, we all know people who have had very lucky moments in their lives. And I feel like that person now. It’s like a career that takes off quickly. How could this happen? I’m still looking for it too. “But this is of course a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and very exciting,” said Linkin Park vocalist Emily Armstrong in a virtual interview, Friday (27/9).

“I consider every day a blessing and I never take it for granted. I’ve worked really hard and being in this position is something that, again, still takes some getting used to. “It’s only been 22 days since everyone found out,” Armstrong continued.

Armstrong also recalled that last year, working on the album and undergoing training routines with Linkin Park, was one of his favorite years in his life.

“And it just keeps getting better. I am very confident that next year will be even better.”

Apart from announcing new members in early September, Linkin Park also announced the release of their new album, From Zero, which will be released on November 15. Armstrong, Brittain, along with Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson, and Dave Farrell are currently also on a world tour to introduce their new album.

After performing in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg and London, tomorrow (28/9) Linkin Park will have a concert in Seoul, South Korea. Continued visit to Bogota on November 11.

Brittain, who grew up as the eldest of five children, feels that the members of Linkin Park are also older brothers who guide him in today’s competitive music industry.

“Me and Em, we’ve both been doing this for 20 years in Los Angeles, and other places. So it’s like a continuation of a career, sort of. It’s not just like we just stepped in randomly. It feels like each of us has put a lot of time into our careers, next to these guys who have had long careers and everything. So this feels like a continuation,” Brittain said.

Like Armstrong, Brittain also adheres to the mantra of gratitude every day. Now that he has a career with Linkin Park, he has a new enthusiasm for performing as well as writing or producing songs and generating new ideas.
“So we’re very excited,” Brittain said. (M-4)
