Émilie’s Journey: From Miss Liège to Police Officer – A Story of Ambition and Dreams

It was via the orange Alert Us button that Émilie contacted us to tell us regarding her journey, which was atypical to say the least. While she is currently running for the title of Miss Liège 2024, the 23-year-old also dreams of becoming a police officer.

Currently a candidate for Miss Liège to then stand for the election of Miss Belgium, Émilie has another dream: that of becoming a police officer. “I started wanting to become a policewoman from a very young age. I admire this job a lot because I find that helping society without getting anything in return is beautiful“.

I also want to uphold the law

When explaining her motivations for wanting to become a police officer, the young woman says: “I don’t like routine, doing the same thing every day, it has to move. I also like risk, I want to enforce the law. Something not all citizens do“. It is therefore in 2022 that she decides to do a year of guarding in order to prepare herself as well as possible for the police. “I was told to go and do security at the Atlas, because it was an asset for the police. And indeed, I learned a lot of things by doing the 7th security“.

In the coming weeks, she will be registering for the police entrance exam, which requires a lot of preparation. “First there is the entrance exam, where I will have to send my application. We will have sports, cognitive and then there is still psychology and other exams“, explains Émilie. In total, the training to enter the police academy will last 1 year.

Next Miss Liège, before Miss Belgium?

Alongside her training to join the police, Émilie also applied for the Miss Liège and Miss Belgium contest. And yet, she was not predestined for this. “Why Miss Belgium? I have been receiving emails for several years. I never answer them, but one day my boyfriend said to me ‘Go ahead, try your luck’. So, I said to myself ‘Why not take up a new challenge?“.

And obviously, this has paid off since the candidate is a finalist for the Miss Province final which will take place on September 7. “We’ll see what happens next, but why not become, perhaps, Miss Belgium and do security at the same time?“. For the 23-year-old candidate, one thing is certain: if she does not win this year, she will not run once more.

Now for the final… and the entrance exam for Emilie.
