If a terrorist threat hovered over the evening, it did not taint the good humor and the dynamism of the candidates. In the end, it is Emilie Vansteenkiste who leaves with the crown of Miss Belgium 2023, ahead of Claire Lansenebre and Victoria Kembukuswa.
The evening got off to a bad start, as we saw, with the arrest of a man who threatened to “blow everything up” during the Miss Belgium 2023 final. Fortunately, the police did a remarkable job and the threat was been ruled out.
Make way for the show, made up of choreographies, parades and sunny clips. And shortly before midnight 30, the result fell: Emilie Vansteenkiste, 21, from Elewijt, student in occupational therapy, became the new Miss Belgium. She practices Latin dance with her boyfriend. This contest is a little girl’s dream. A dream she pursues in tribute to her mother who died of cancer and who told her to participate. “I was shy and, with this competition, I grew up,” she says.
Her first runner-up is Claire Lansenebre, 24, from Knokke-Heist, cook, who is already very involved in humanitarian work in her country of origin, the Philippines. With her boyfriend who lives there, she welcomes poor children to offer them food and give them kite-surfing lessons. Runner-up is Victoria Kembukuswa, 20, from Waterloo, a biomedical science student.
