Emergency specialists will be trained at the Hospital de Soledad

The General Hospital of Soledad will be a training space in the Emergency Medicine Specialty of the UASLP.

The Emergency Medicine program has been recognized by Conacyt through the National Quality Postgraduate Program since 2018. It is oriented towards professional practice, because it aims to train a doctor capable of practicing emergency medicine, with the knowledge, quality of skills, professional ethics and humanism required for the care of patients with immediate risk of loss of function or life.

This program is developed at the Faculty of Medicine in agreement and collaboration with the IMSS, the ISSSTE and the Ministry of Health.

In our country, this specialty began to be taught in 1986 in the health services of Mexico City. Since March 2009, the specialty began at the General Hospital of Zone Number 50 of the IMSS and in 2012 recognition was granted by the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí. Later, the IMSS Hospital 1, the ISSSTE General Hospital and the Central Hospital were added as training spaces. So far, 11 generations have graduated with a terminal efficiency of 93%.

In the hospital from Soledad, it is planned to receive 3 residents per year, selected in the National Examination of Applicants for Medical Residences. The Emergency Medicine Specialty program comprises 3 school cycles, each school cycle is made up of 1 school year that begins on March 1 and ends on the last day of February.
