In Listuguj, constables Anthony Ouellet and Dakota Barnaby are expecting a slightly more hectic shift.
“We expect to set up roadblocks to monitor drunk driving. (…) You never know which calls may come in. It can range from domestic violence, alcohol or drugs. We never know. We have different calls every day,” says Anthony.
The two officers, who have less than a year of experience, are excited because it will be the first time they will be patrolling the streets of the community on December 31.
“I’m sure I can’t wait to experience this! (…) It is sure that it will be special to be in a police uniform that I have always dreamed of since I was very young and to be on the road”, specifies the 23-year-old policeman.
Even if he is a member in good standing of Listuguj, there is no question for Dakota going to have a dip at his house to unwrap his gift or have a bite to eat with his teammate.
“Hopefully I can eat turkey before I start my shift because I’m always going to be on the road. I won’t have much time with my loved ones, but that’s part of my job,” says the 28-year-old peace officer.
While many of you will be unwrapping presents, Paramedic Chevarie would love to receive one from the government.
“I would like to have working conditions that would be adequate and sign our agreement. We’ve been waiting for like three years,” laments the front-line worker.
