Although the situation is relatively stable in the province’s emergency rooms this Christmas Eve, some regions are more affected than others.

At Mont-Laurier Hospital, around 12 p.m., the occupancy rate of stretchers in the emergency room was 260%.
Significant demographic growth as well as an insufficient supply of services are responsible for this high proportion.
Across the Laurentians, the average stretcher occupancy rate was 118%.
Montérégie and Lanaudière, for their part, display a rate greater than 100%.
Before the holiday break, the Minister of Health called on Quebecers to avoid going to emergency rooms, if possible.
The message seems to have been heard, according to Dr. François Marquis, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
“People know each other from the inside. If they feel deeply that they need to go to the emergency room, that’s okay. If they say to themselves that it would be practical to go there, it should not be just the reason,” he says.
