SOME time ago, Chinese badminton player Zhang Zhi Jie died of a heart attack while competing in Indonesia. This became a highlight when there was handling carried out by the competition organizers. So, what is an emergency response? Check out the explanation below.

Emergency response systems are a key pillar of public safety, providing rapid and effective assistance in critical situations. From natural disasters to medical emergencies, they play a vital role in mitigating risks, saving lives and minimizing the impact of emergencies on communities.

A heart attack is an urgent and serious medical condition that occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is interrupted, often due to a blockage in the blood vessels supplying the heart.

A quick and appropriate emergency response is critical in increasing the chances of survival for heart attack sufferers.

The following is an explanation of the emergency response to a heart attack from Adib Khumaidi, one of the founders of the Indonesian Emergency Doctors Association.

Adub said a heart attack occurs when blood flow to part of the heart stops, usually due to a blockage in the coronary artery that causes damage to heart tissue.

“Quick action is very important because the heart can quickly experience permanent damage if it does not receive adequate treatment in a short time. Every minute means losing vital heart muscle tissue, which can have a major impact on the patient’s recovery and prognosis, even death,” Adib explained during a visit to Media Indonesia, Wednesday (10/7).

According to Adib, treatment when someone experiences a heart attack must be done quickly because the heart needs time quickly.

“The golden period is only 8 to 10 minutes, so, that’s why there is cardiac massage treatment, even in the ambulance, cardiac massage is also done. But unfortunately not all people understand regarding it,” he said.
