The emergency services of Picardy Wallonia were alerted on Thursday, around 6:00 a.m., that a lifeless body had been spotted in the waters of the Scheldt near the Kain lock (Tournai).
A boat, a pumper, a ladder truck and a command vehicle were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters were unable to remove the body from the river. They must wait for the men from the federal scientific police laboratory in Tournai to arrive before proceeding to recover the body. We currently do not know the sex of the victim and the circumstances of his death, suicide, accident or assault.
The Tournai public prosecutor’s office was informed of the facts.
