A camera attached to a small plane in North Carolina showed the critical moment its pilot made an emergency landing on the highway.
The single-engine Aero Commander 100 landed on US Route 19, near a bridge in Swain County, the local county sheriff’s office said.
The pilot, Vincent Fraser, said the emergency landing was related to an engine failure.
The video clip shows the monoplane descending steadily on the highway, as Fraser searched for a small gap between the cars to avoid causing a serious accident.
The main road ended up being his best option for landing, considering it the only flat piece of land in the area.
At the time of the emergency landing, authorities said they initially received 911 calls from motorists to report a plane crash.
