A plane belonging to a British airline was forced to make an emergency landing at Hurghada International Airport, in the early hours of Sunday morning, minutes following it took off on its way to Rome, following one of its engines malfunctioned and caught fire.
It was found that the plane was carrying 178 passengers, and the passengers were evacuated from the plane, and the plane was transferred to the isolated area at the airport, to deal with it through the civil protection forces.
It was also found that the reason for the emergency landing was that one of the plane’s engines suffered a sudden malfunction and the engine caught fire, so the pilot decided to land at Hurghada International Airport a few minutes following take-off, following informing the airport control tower.
A number of ambulances and firefighting vehicles were sent to Hurghada Airport in anticipation of any developments and the transfer of security forces. The situation was dealt with and the limited fire in the aircraft engine was controlled without any injuries.
