Emelec lost two minutes into the game against Orense to the left back jackson rodriguez due to a severe injury to his left leg, for which he will undergo emergency surgery on Monday.
Product of a tackle by Richard Calderón, Rodríguez fell badly on the grass and seriously injured his ankle and fibula.
“The player Jackson Rodríguez suffered a ankle dislocation and fibula fracture in the match vs. Orense”, informed the medical services of the blue club.
Rodríguez, 24, was left lying on the ground and his partner Miler Bolaños protested angrily to the referee so that Calderón was sent off.
Referee Álex Cajas judged the offense by showing the Orense midfielder a red card.
The Bombillo winger was evacuated from the field by ambulance and transferred to a health home.
Minutes later, the degree of his injury was verified and the club published the medical report on social networks.
Rodríguez joined Emelec in 2018 from Rocafuerte FC. He was promoted to the first team in 2020.
On the opening day of the 2023 LigaPro Serie A championship, he added 72 minutes against Libertad FC at the George Capwell stadium.
