Emcali suspended Claro’s services for non-payment

Municipal Companies of Cali, Emcali, has disconnected, in the last hours, more than 140 energy sources, used by the company Claro, apparently due to non-payment by the telecommunications company.

Of course, it owed more than 20,000 million to Emcali, of which it consigned a little more than 7,000 million last January, however, after the advance, the companies agreed to finalize the debt with a payment of $12,342 million.

Due to Claro’s failure to pay, the president of the Emcali Union of Unions explained the situation: “Claro’s tendency was to start a series of appeals and petition rights to EMCALIi to try not to pay the rest of the money that had been agreed and had a date, the date had passed and all the resources had been answered, what the general manager has done is to support the energy control operational area so that the suspension proceeds in the event of non-compliance with the agreements agreed by Claro and with the clear intention of not wanting to pay”.

According to Marino del Río, representative of Emcali, “Of course, he rejected the collection account and stated that he did not recognize the Debt.”

Given the impact that the users of the telecommunications company could suffer, in the event of the service being cut, Emcali holds Claro solely responsible.

Before the cut of its services, Claro communicated that: “Claro categorically rejects Emcali’s actions of trying to take the Internet from the city and pressing the solution of a complaint to request a clarification that had been presented by Claro.”

In addition, the telecommunications company assured that the debt it had with Emcali had ended, so that Caleños do not run out of internet.

However, Claro added that: “it reserves the right to take any legal and criminal action that may arise to defend correct Internet access in the city.”

Currently, a large number of Claro’s clients are without service, due to the decision of the service provider in the face of the presumed breach of the agreement.

However, complaints have been filed by Emcali workers because, apparently, Claro employees have restored the service without authorization from the provider.
