Embraer’s E195-E2 jet, the largest of the E-Jet family, received Type Certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). In November last year, the certification of the E190-E2 jet by the CAAC had already been announced during the Zhuhai Air Show.
According to Embraer’s market study published in June, the Asia-Pacific region is expected to show a strong growth rate over the next two decades, increasing RPK (revenue per passenger kilometer) by 4.4% per year. Thus, the need for flexibility, complemented by narrowbody aircraft, is driving demand in the up to 150-seat segment in China.
In November last year, the Embraer E195-E2 “Tech Lion” visited China and made its debut at the Zhuhai Airshow, demonstrating to the country’s aeronautical authorities its excellent performance, low noise, emissions and operating costs.
The E195-E2 entered service in 2019, with Azul. As the largest member of the E-Jet family, the E195-E2 accommodates between 120 and 146 passengers. It is the most fuel efficient single-aisle aircraft per seat, delivering 25% less fuel consumption per seat compared to the previous generation E-Jet.
In June 2022, the E195-E2 performed a successful flight on 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), confirming that the E-Jets E2 family can fly on blends of up to 100 % SAF without compromising the safety or performance of operations. Today, the E2 emits 25% less CO2 emissions compared to the previous generation of aircraft; this reduction can be increased to 85% with SAF.
