Young blood for the old rock ‘n’ roll: US band Greta Van Fleet is looking for the big gesture with great success

The band from Michigan has long been ridiculed and insulted as the epigone of Led Zeppelin. Now she is trying to emancipate herself. You can trust her.

“This wonderful young singer reminds me of someone I know very well,” said Robert Plant when asked what he thought of the rock band Greta Van Fleet. The band from Michigan was compared to Led Zeppelin from the start – and some critics ridiculed or even insulted them as pure epigones who unrestrainedly recycled the legacy of the great band of the 70s. The musician and producer Steven Wilson was the most negative four years ago: The band was “awful, a joke” and called them “a poor, third-rate Led Zeppelin imitation”. He believes “not for a minute that in ten years someone will remember her”.
