Ed Sheeran might become the first British musician to become a billionaire.
The English newspaper The Times has unveiled the list of the richest personalities in the United Kingdom and the interpreter of the title ‘Shivers’ has seen his fortune grow by 40 million pounds Sterling.
While tenth in the list away from Paul McCartney, who tops the list with an estimated fortune of £865million, Sheeran might top £1billion in the near future.
Due to the pandemic and postponed tours, artists have not seen their fortunes increase significantly.
Robert Watts, who works at the Sunday Times Rich List, said: “We expect the return of post-Covid touring to see many of these singers and bands earn well this year and next. It seems that old musicians never retire, they just get richer. »
He added: “Another golden year for Ed Sheeran leads us to believe he might in time help Paul McCartney become Britain’s first billionaire musician. »
In second place in the ranking behind the former Beatles, we find U2 and Lord Lloyd-Webber.
Elton John, Sting and Mick Jagger are fourth, fifth and sixth on the list respectively.
