Actor Elvi Reinvald of the Kuusalurahva Theater took part in the final competition of the Koidula poetry competition for adults on Saturday, March 11, which was held for the 9th time at the Koidula Museum in Pärnu. The jury, which included Doris Kareva, Kaupo Meiel and Katrin Nielsen, judged her presentation worthy of the silver award. The final competition was preceded by regional preliminary competitions, Elvi Reinvald participated in the preliminary competition held on February 25 in Haljala. One poem by Lydia Koidula and another by an Estonian author of his choice had to be presented. Elvi Reinvald said that she chose Lydia Koidu’s poem “Jutt” and Helgi Muller’s “When the heather cries”: “The poem “Jutt” entered my heart and stayed with me in the 7th grade, I have carried it with me to this day. The poem is regarding the love of the homeland. Koidula wrote it before his death when he lived abroad. Helgi Muller’s poem is patriotic and also emotional, regarding a fallen soldier, I have performed it at the Pilots’ stone.” He said that he has never participated in poetry competitions before, although he likes poetry very much. There were 14 participants from all over Estonia in the final competition. Elvi Reinvald acknowledged that there were also young people participating.
