Elon Musk’s Potential Investment in France: What Are the Options on the Table?

At the Choose France summit in mid-May in Versailles, billionaire Elon Musk had already promised that Tesla would make “significant investments in France”.

Elon Musk, soon a project in France? The Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, has in any case “good hope” that the boss of Tesla “will make an investment in France”, he declared on LCI on Sunday July 9 on the occasion of the Economic Meetings from Aix-en-Provence.

Asked whether this investment would relate specifically to batteries or electric cars, the Minister replied that there was

“several options on the table”.

“It is he who will decide,” he continued regarding the boss of this pioneering company in electric cars, but also present in the space sector via the SpaceX company.

“He knows he is welcome in France”,

where he was received on several occasions by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron and Bruno Le Maire.

In June, Elon Musk reiterated his interest in France,

considering “very likely” a future project

“important” in the country, without however confirming the location of the battery factory desired by Emmanuel Macron. At the Choose France summit in mid-May in Versailles, the billionaire had already promised that Tesla would

his choice might also be on Spain,

nearly four years following choosing Berlin for the electric carmaker’s first factory in Europe.
