Elon Musk has announced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved an experimental device from his company Neuralink.
About this device called Blind Sight, Elon Musk claims that with its help even the blind from birth will be able to see like normal people.
Elon Musk’s company has already successfully implanted computer chips in the brains of 2 paralyzed people who have been able to do different things with their mental thoughts.
Elon Musk said in an X-Post that with Neuralink’s Bright Sight device, people who have lost both eyes will be able to see the world.
He further informed that in fact with this device even those who are born blind will be able to see.
He said that first vision with this device will be marginally accurate, but gradually natural vision will improve and you will be able to see infrared, ultraviolet and radar wavelengths as well.
He also shared an X-Post photo of a character from the science fiction TV series Star Trek who is born blind but is able to see using various devices.
In this regard, the statement issued by the company said that the FDA has approved the blind site as a Breakthrough Device Designation.
Breakthrough Device Designation by the FDA is given to certain medical devices that are used to treat or diagnose life-threatening diseases.
Neuralink is also planning to implant the chip in the brains of eight more patients.
