Elon Musk, the boss of Tesla, wants to lay off regarding one in ten employees of the automaker. That’s according to an email the boss sent to a number of Tesla executives that was also made available to Archyde.com. Remarkably, Musk is basing his decision on “the super bad feeling” he has regarding the global economy, he says in the email. He also thinks recruiting at Tesla should be put on hold.
The electric car maker employs some 99,290 people worldwide. The company has factories in the United States, China and Berlin, where a total of 930,422 cars were produced last year. No one might be reached on Friday to comment on possible restructuring plans.
Musk was talked regarding once more this week with a hard-hitting plea for the elimination of telecommuting at Tesla. Employees should be in the office at least 40 hours a week, he believes.
Other leaders, such as Jamie Dimon of US investment bank JPMorgan Chase, have also sounded the alarm regarding the state of the economy. He warned investors this week of “an economic hurricane.”
