Elon Musk: Twitter may charge small fees for commercial and government use

(CNN) — Businessman Elon Musk said, Tuesday, in a tweet, that “Twitter will always be free for ordinary users, but may charge a small fee for commercial and government use.”

Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, had stated that he wanted to make Twitter “better than ever,” following Twitter announced its approval, last month, to sell the company to Musk in a deal estimated at $44 billion. .

In a previous statement, Musk said, “Freedom of expression is the cornerstone of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the arena of the digital city where matters vital to the future of humanity are discussed.”

And Musk laid out 4 features of what the future of Twitter will look like: adding new features, making algorithms open source, eliminating bots accounts, and verifying people’s accounts.

“Twitter has tremendous potential, and I look forward to working with the company and the user community to unlock it,” he said.
