Elon Musk Announces Accounts Can No Longer Be Blocked on Social Network X: Find out the Impact and Alternatives

On the social network X, formerly Twitter, accounts will soon no longer be able to be blocked. At least that’s what owner Elon Musk said on the messaging service. Only private messages will soon be able to be blocked, he said in a reply to message X.

Currently, accounts can still block certain X users. Messages are no longer visible to blocked X users, nor can they post comments. Posts are no longer visible to blocked X users, who also cannot post comments. Messages from blocked accounts are also not visible to those who have banned them.

This feature allows users to stay away from, for example, spam accounts or people who digitally harass them. But Elon Musk now believes that the blocking “does not make sense”. According to the Bloomberg news agency, it is still possible to “mute” accounts. You no longer see their messages, but they can still see yours.

After taking over the reins of Twitter last year, Musk cut numerous positions, including many of employees who were supposed to enforce internal rules once morest hateful or discriminatory posts. Users previously banned from Twitter were also allowed to return to the now rebranded platform. Many advertisers did not like these interventions and ended their campaigns on the old Twitter. As a result, revenue fell by half.
