ELN claims that peace talks have been frozen

He National Liberation Army (ELN) confirmed that during this month of April there will be no meetings with the Colombian government, denouncing alleged breaches of prior agreements.

In a statement, the insurgent group warned that while talks are taking place, the national government is calling for its members to demobilize.

The incident occurred just one day after the start of a new round of talks between the parties, this time with Caracas as the venue for the meeting between the ELN and the Colombian authorities.

The guerrilla group accused the administration of Gustavo Petro and recalled that a few days ago it was warned that the process would be put on hold if the government did not put a stop to the double handling of the situation.

“During the month of March, the government’s decisions continued with the double management of the peace process with the ELN, in which it assists this dialogue table, while below it promotes demobilization in Nariño, conduct contrary to fair play and good faith that should characterize peace talks, which has brought this table to a state of freezing.”the document detailed.

Venezuela has hosted such meetings in the past.with the last of them carried out in the capital last february.
