Elisaveta Peskova (24) is the daughter of Dmitri Peskov (54), Vladimir Putin’s spokesman. She, too, is now affected by the sanctions against Russian oligarchs and their families. In an interview with the «Business Insider» she complains how unfair it all is. Her father has worked for the Russian President for over 20 years and is a friend of his. The mother of the 24-year-old is figure skater and Olympic champion Tatiana Navka (46). Her parents’ fortune is getting loud «The Guardian» estimated at around ten million dollars.
The 24-year-old is the founder of a communications company and director of a historical foundation with a master’s degree in international relations. The restrictions would not have harmed her financially, but they are completely unfair and unfounded, the 24-year-old complains. Peskowa is angry because she is not allowed to use her passport: “I’m upset because I would like to travel and love other cultures.”
You can “do nothing”
It is strange to impose sanctions on a person who is 24 years old and has nothing to do with the situation, says Elisaveta. She was a “citizen of the world” and “surprised” by the sanctions. “I completely understand that I have more opportunities than others, because of course I don’t come from a simple family,” Peskowa said in a telephone interview with “Business Insider”. “But you know, without a brain, you can’t turn those possibilities into something.” And precisely because Peskowa does not come from a “simple family,” the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Elisaveta and her brother on March 11.
On her Instagram account she posted the words “No to war” – but these were quickly deleted. In an interview with “Business Insider”, Elisaveta emphasizes that she is not her father. Although she has a very deep connection to him, she can “do nothing” about the situation in Ukraine.
As early as 2017, the then 19-year-old provoked a statement: Loud “Image” she complained at the time about the “many migrants” in Paris, who would no longer make the city the Paris she loved so much. As a native of Russia, she lived there herself to study abroad.
