Elio Di Rupo responds to criticism of Wallonia: “A third of the wealth we create goes to Flemish companies”


Elio Di Rupo was the Alex Reed of RTL info Signatures this Wednesday, February 8. VTM journalist Karel Lattrez took the opportunity to question him on the ambitions of the PS. “Where are the major reforms of the various PS ministers to increase the employment rate in Wallonia?” he asked.

Without hesitation, Elio Di Rupo replies: “We work mainly on training.” The Walloon Minister-President justifies: “Among the people who do not have a job, there are 45% of people who have not reached secondary level. It is really something that is terrible”.

Before adding: “We always hear criticism of Wallonia. But a third of the wealth we create goes to Dutch-speaking companies”, nuance-t-il. Elio Di Rupo says : “Wallonia is as important for the Flemish economy as the Netherlands, Germany and France”. The socialist admits that Wallonia has “improvements to make”, but concludes: “We must work hand in hand and help each other, instead of shouting at each other”.
