At the end of March, 14-year-old Swiss karting talent Elia E. died of sepsis. As “Auto Sport Schweiz” writes on Facebook, he was hospitalized with flu symptoms. In this Elia was then placed in an artificial coma because of severe pneumonia, which caused sepsis. He never woke up from this.
The young Swiss celebrated some successes in his career. In 2020, as a completely inexperienced driver, he contested the official Swiss karting championship for the first time and took fifth place in the overall classification. In 2021 he was able to take home the title of Vice Swiss Champion in the Super Mini category. Last season he switched to the next higher category, OK Junior, and became Vice Swiss Champion in 2022. The 14-year-old also caused a sensation in a number of international races.
Mourning for Elia E. is great
“Auto Sport Schweiz” wrote an obituary for the young motorsport talent. “Elia has won the hearts of his fellow human beings with his positive attitude, his contagious ambition and his mischievous smile,” it says – and: “The fact that he was quickly successful in his short career says a lot about his driving qualities. » “Auto Sport Schweiz” expresses its sincere condolences to the family, especially to the parents Jennifer and Daniele and his two siblings Romeo and Gioele, relatives and friends.
There is also great sadness on social media. The Spanish Automobile Federation, for example, joins the condolences, as does the Fia Motorsport Games. Jake Sanson, a motorsports commentator, wrote on Twitter: “Just found out about the tragic death. What a sad start to 2023.” Many fans also write under the latest photos on his Instagram profile. Someone says something like: “Elia, we will continue for you and keep you in our memories.”
