This Friday the results of the elections were known to elect the representatives of the graduates and the heads of practical work (JTP) in the Board of Directors of eleven Faculties of the National University of La Plata (UNLP).
In the remaining six it will be known today since in the Faculties of Agrarian, Exact, Observatory and Natural, with more than one list, they extended the vote until today. While in Humanities and Engineering as well, but there is a unit list there.
The surprise of the day happened in Medicine, where the “University Convergence” list, made up of reformists, former Purple Strip, obtained the two representatives for graduates and one for the JTP, putting the dean’s re-election on hold.
In said Faculty, the Peronist list “For Integral Health”, whose student reference is Remediar, was relegated to third place below the “Frente de Graduados”, made up of leaders of the Platense Medical Association, the PCR and Patria Grande, which had won in the previous election in 2017.
According to this medium, the current dean does not yet have the votes to re-elect: he needs 11 or 9, in case he proposes a successor, and today he would have 8, between the 7 professors and the non-teacher, who in the next weeks they will go to the polls with a single list.
It is worth noting that the cloister of Graduates put three seats at stake for the boards of directors of each faculty and one for the Superior Council of the UNLP. The rest is made up of teachers (7 advisors), non-teachers (1) and students (5).
On the other hand, in Law reformism won (Reformist Pluralist Unit) aligned with the current administration and where in the last election Peronism had won, which now went with the United Graduates Front; and in Architecture, the ruling party remained with the representation of the graduates and the JTP.
With the triumph in graduates, the ruling party of the Faculty of Law is one step away from ensuring continuity since it will go with a single list in the faculty and non-teachers. Same scenario what happens in Architecture, where the ruling party won and is heading to maintain control of the academic unit.
Lastly, in the Faculty of Psychology, the advisors were divided between the JTP that won POIESIS (referenced with Dean Xavier Oñativia) and the two graduates that obtained the “Movement for Unity”, in which the groups “Psiconstruye” and “Los Crickets.” While in Journalism, Computer Science, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Social Work, Arts and Economics there was a single list and the three councilors remained for the ruling party.
