Disabled champion Dionysia Tsakiri is faced with an incredible adventure. As she revealed, due to debt, her house in Elefsina was bought by a fund and is going under the hammer.

The family’s lawyer, Katerina Fragakis, the General Secretary of Demographics & Housing Policy, Marina Stefou, the disabled champion, Dionysia Tsakiri, as well as her coach, Michalis Nikopoulos, spoke to “Society Ora MEGA” regarding the eviction that took place in her home champion and explained what has gone before.

The reason for the eviction was that her father had debts to the tax office which swelled during the financial crisis.

The family’s lawyer, Katerina Fragaki, commented that it was a debt of 20,000 euros, which reached 50,000 euros following interest.

Dionysia Tsakiri, who is a champion in the sport of boccia, told “Socionia Ora MEGA”: “We didn’t know anything regarding my dad moving as he should.”

The General Secretary of Demographic and Housing Policy, Marina Stefou, commented that there are ways in which she can get her house back.

“This is a disabled champion who has glorified our country and we want to help her as much as possible. There had been three fruitless auctions. I got in touch with the General Secretariat of the Financial Sector and Private Debt and we saw the real history of the events that preceded the auction. Indeed, the family had not taken any legal action, because they did not know. There is free legal aid for people on low incomes and people with disabilities. We met with Dionysia and found two ways it can be solved. I also contacted the General Secretariat of Sports to see if her family can be subsidized as a champion. He has a meeting with the Federation and some proposals will be made. It might also be helped by sponsorships. There will be a joint coordinated effort,” he said.

Dionysia needs regarding 110,000 euros to go back to her home.

Her coach, Michalis Nikopoulos, also spoke on the show, noting: “We have been dealing with Dionysia with boccia for 10 years. He participates with the national team in world and pan-European championships. She is a shy and introverted athlete. 15 days ago when we were in Poland for a world tournament, and Dionysia even though she was facing this serious problem, both me and her teammates didn’t know anything. He gave the fight, carrying all that weight and still we came back with this success. He told me when we got back.”
